Benny Gibson really sizzled at the plate in today's 20-2 win over Magicians. The Bakersfield second baseman blistered Yuba City for 6 hits in 6 at-bats.
"Gibson was too tough to get out today," the Magicians skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
B. Gibson hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off T. Rodgers in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off L. Correa in the 9th.
During the 2019 season Gibson has hit .481 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs. He has played in 5 games and scored 5 times.

John Carey bent a little, but he didn't break against the Magicians. The Waverly pitcher hurled a 2-hit 5-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 1 strikeout.
"John is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
