| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 7th, 2019: Wolf Point Tops Waverly for FBLR Title
The Wolf Point Doom concluded the season in grand fashion -- they won the FBL Rookie League Round 2. They nailed it down at Doom Ballpark by whipping the Waverly Hotshots 4-3 to win it all. They took the series 4-1.
Their motto for the season was "Win or Die Trying".
"They never let up and they never stopped trying the whole season," the Doom manager proudly told reporters. "They hustled and fought the whole season and it continued in the playoffs. They are a very special bunch of guys."
To get their 2nd league crown, the Doom finished up the regular season in the Sub League 1 Division 1 with a 38-24 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.

Earl Minor of the Waverly Hotshots was really in the zone as he mowed down the MacComb hitters 13-0 in a sterling mound performance.
"I'm feeling good overall," he said.
"I'm executing my pitches, I'm able to hit my spots and I'm getting outs in key situations."
Minor shut down the MacComb Whales, blanking them on 3 hits while registering 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

John Carey bent a little, but he didn't break against the Magicians. The Waverly pitcher hurled a 2-hit 5-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 1 strikeout.
"John is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
