| Breaking News | | Friday, August 23rd, 2019: Carbaja Bangs Out 5 Base Hits "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Bernardo Carbaja after his 5-hit performance against the Roughnecks. "No offense meant to Chesapeake, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Ballpark of Santa Ana!"
The Santa Ana catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 8-0 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Bernardo worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Carbaja said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
B. Carbaja hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season Carbaja is batting .278 with 1 home run, 20 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 187 at-bats, 12 walks and a .340 OBP. Carbaja has played in 52 games. | | Monday, August 12th, 2019: Gutiérrez Gets 5 Hits It was a hits blitz for Félix Gutiérrez at Doom Ballpark. The Wolf Point Doom first baseman tore into Santa Ana for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace Doom to a 22-2 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Diamondbacks bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Gutiérrez, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
F. Gutiérrez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Year-to-date in 51 games Gutiérrez has compiled a .392 batting average with 87 hits and 3 home runs. He has also scored 40 times and knocked in 35 runs. | | Thursday, August 1st, 2019: Hot Hitter!
