| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 7th, 2019: SL2 Announces Top Batter Award
Jimmy Jones went on a year-long hitting rampage against Sub League 2 pitchers and collected the Outstanding Hitter Award for 2019.
The Baton Rouge second baseman battered the opposition for 76 hits, 22 doubles, no triples, 4 home runs and 43 RBIs while scoring 34 runs. He hit .409 and posted a .477 on-base percentage.
This weekend Jones will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.

| Monday, July 22nd, 2019: Big Bat Bags SL2 Best Player Award
Jimmy Jones of the Baton Rouge Metropolitans had a super week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Sub League 2.
The 23-year-old shortstop put up a .464 average with a .516 on-base percentage, racking up 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
For 2019 Jones is hitting .391 with 3 home runs. His stats include 35 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

| Wednesday, July 17th, 2019: Big Day with Bat, Jones 5-6
It seemed that Baton Rouge shortstop Jimmy Jones could do no wrong as the Metropolitans kayoed the Turmoil 11-2 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Fremont pitchers couldn't get him out as Jones seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Metropolitans were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Fremont fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play." exclaimed the jubilant Jones in the postgame press interview.
J. Jones singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off W. Fernández in the 9th.
Jones is batting .409 in 2019 with 3 home runs, 33 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 45 hits in 110 at-bats.
