| Breaking News |  | Thursday, August 1st, 2019: Speeders Blanked by St. Louis On the hill Willie Kendrick stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Mountain Iron 5-0.
At bat the Speeders floundered, fizzled and failed to score.
"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Mountain Iron manager said. "He kept us off balance."
The St. Louis pitcher hurled a 3-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up 1 walk and numbered 3 strikeouts.
"I felt good," Kendrick said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."
This year Kendrick has compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.84 ERA in 9 starts. |  | Monday, June 24th, 2019: Martínez Wins SL1 Player of the Week What a performance by Lorenzo Martínez of the Mountain Iron Speeders! The left fielder really tore up Sub League 1 pitching and easily claimed the Player of the Week Award.
The 23-year-old hit .455 with 1 home run and 8 RBIs. For the week he was 10-22 and scored 4 runs.

"No offense meant to Nolanville, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Speeders Ballpark!"
The Mountain Iron left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 17-2 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Lorenzo worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Martínez said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
L. Martínez walked in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off S. Flores in the 8th.
