| Breaking News |  | Saturday, June 22nd, 2019: Soto Blanks Spokane
Roberto Soto was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Warplanes. He shut them out 7-0 on 5 hits with 12 strikeouts and 1 walk.
The Chandler manager said, "Roberto was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Soto has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
In 16 starts this year Soto has crafted a 13-1 record and a 3.97 ERA.

 | Sunday, June 16th, 2019: 5-Hit Barrage by Carpenter
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Hudson second baseman Graham Carpenter said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-5 day against the Spokane Warplanes. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
However his sensational day wasn't enough. The Warplanes won the ballgame 9-6.
The disappointed Carpenter said to reporters, "I guess you can't always have it all." He added, tongue in cheek, "I guess it's better to go 5 for 5 and lose than it is to go 0 for 5 and lose."
G. Carpenter doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season Carpenter has 5 home runs and a .347 batting average.

This week he let his bat do the talking. That's why Rod Steele of the Spokane Warplanes was named the Sub League 2 Player of the Week.
For the week the 21-year-old shortstop batted .480 (12-25) with 2 home runs, 6 runs and 9 RBIs.
This season Steele is swinging the bat at a .259 pace. He has hit 3 home runs and scored 28 times, while driving in 22. His on-base percentage is .343 and he has played in 58 games.
