| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 2nd, 2019: Ultimates Win Round 2 Crown The Ultimates earned their 1st Round 2 title and now get to spend all winter basking in glory, while the beaten Skychiefs will have many sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.
Chandler is the FBL Double A Champions for 2019. They did it with a 6-4 triumph to capture the series 4-1.
"Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," the winning manager said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits."
The Toledo skipper agreed with that assessment and added, "We were a little weak on fundamentals at crucial times. I have a sneaky suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring."
On the way to the Round 2 championship, the Ultimates ended up in first place in the Sub League 2 Division 1 and compiled a 77-43 record during the regular season. |  | Saturday, August 24th, 2019: Smith on Fire, 5-6 Against Saint Petersburg If the Saint Petersburg Skeletons know how best to pitch the Toledo left fielder Nathan Smith they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Smith showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Skeletons pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Skychiefs to a 13-1 triumph at Skychiefs Ballpark.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Saint Petersburg skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
N. Smith grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
Smith is batting .260 this year with 4 home runs, 55 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 112 hits in 431 at-bats. |  | Monday, August 12th, 2019: SL1 Player of the Week Goes to Smith of Toledo Toledo fans have something to crow about today as Toledo right fielder Dustin Smith nabbed the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Smith.
He posted a .647 average (11-17) this past week with 1 home run, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
