If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Andrew Campbell showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Stockton Angelfish and helped the Tieton Golden Nuggets beat them 10-9.
The manager for the Angelfish told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Campbell keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
A. Campbell singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off M. Bowers in the 8th.
Posting a .268 batting average to date, Campbell has 6 home runs and 54 RBIs.

 | Thursday, August 1st, 2019: O'Brian - SL2's Top Starter
When Ken O'Brian takes the mound, a Tieton victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in May.
He excelled with a 5-1 mark and a 3.61 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 52.1 innings, fanned 22 and held opposing batters to a .222 average.
That's why the Golden Nuggets starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Sub League 2.
This year O'Brian has made 24 starts, thrown 172.2 innings, fanned 63 batters and walked 35. His won-lost record is 12-9 with a 3.81 ERA.

In June, Juan Jose Núñez was the toughest out in the Sub League 2 and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month.
The Tieton first baseman rapped out 49 hits in 114 at-bats for a .430 batting average, hit no home runs, drove in 25 runs and scored 21 times.
Thus far this season Núñez is hitting .395 with 1 home run, 39 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 94 hits in 238 at-bats and has played in 55 games.
