| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 8th, 2019: Newark's Vega Demanding Trade? It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Newark's Javier Vega has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the reliever may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment. | | Wednesday, September 4th, 2019: Davis Batters Newark for 5 Hits If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. At Ballpark of Mokuleia Carl Davis showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Newark Proletarians. However this great day with the bat didn't pay off in a victory. The Mokuleia Toucans fell 14-5.
The manager for the Proletarians told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames. Luckily we came away with a win today. Davis just didn't get enough help."
If Davis keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
C. Davis singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
In 2019, Davis is hitting .263 with 0 home runs and 53 RBIs in 124 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .328 with 45 walks and 60 runs scored. | | Sunday, August 25th, 2019: Newark Star Muńóz Struggles with Injury The topic du jour around Newark is whether Roberto Muńóz of the Proletarians will suit up for today's contest. He was injured yesterday against the Golden Nuggets while throwing a pitch. The standout 28-year-old reliever has back spasms and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.
"Roberto will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible."
Season-to-date Muńóz has 1 save in 13 relief appearances with a 5-5 record and 4.22 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 69-61, .531 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 37-28, .569 PCT | | Record on the road | 32-33, .492 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-14, .300 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 23-17, .575 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-25, .444 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 49-36, .576 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in July | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in August | 11-11, .500 PCT |
