Javier Moreno of the Covington Scholars just toyed with the Mokuleia Toucans today, blanking them 7-0. He was almost untouchable, baffling them on a 4-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Moreno said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there."
One of his teammates said it was easy to play behind him today. "It was like he's just playing with the hitters and doing whatever he wanted to do."

It was a smooth and solid performance by Dave Crosby of the Covington Scholars against Centreville today. He crafted a fine 4-hitter in blanking them 1-0 and chalked up 6 strikeouts and no walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Covington skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch, and enjoy."
This year Crosby has registered 2 wins and 5 losses in 8 starts with a 5.94 ERA while registering 41 strikeouts and 17 walks in 63.2 innings.

Hinojosa swung a blistering bat last week for the Covington Scholars, rapping out 9 hits in 21 at-bats against Covington opponents to propel himself to the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award.
Whenever the right fielder hit the ball, he hit it with authority. The 22-year-old racked up a .429 batting average (9-21) with 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
So far this season Hinojosa is batting .208 with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 154 at-bats, 19 walks and a .293 OBP. Hinojosa has played in 40 games.
