| Breaking News | | Tuesday, August 20th, 2019: Hot Bat of Washington Burns Missiles It's not something you read in the sports pages everyday -- a 5-for-6 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Tim Washington got one today. He scattered hits all over Henderson Fields to pace Henderson to a 12-11 victory over Raleigh.
The Raleigh skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Washington hit several that he is not supposed to hit."
T. Washington singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off P. Lee in the 11th.
In 102 games this year Washington has posted a .309 average and put up these numbers: 4 home runs, 43 RBIs and 39 runs scored. | | Friday, August 16th, 2019: Dholes Krupp Blanks Missiles "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Raleigh manager after his club suffered a 14-0 shutout at the hands of Mal Krupp of the Minneapolis Dholes. He held the Raleigh Missiles scoreless in a 2-hit whitewash.
Krupp was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Mal did a whale of a pitching job."
So far this year Krupp has a 14-8 record with a 4.36 ERA. | | Thursday, August 1st, 2019: Missiles Hernández July's #1 Pitcher In July Raleigh starter, Juan Hernández really put the strong arm on the other Sub League 1 teams and hauled in the Pitcher of the Month trophy.
