Tuesday, August 20th, 2019: Hot Bat of Washington Burns Missiles
It's not something you read in the sports pages everyday -- a 5-for-6 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Tim Washington got one today. He scattered hits all over Henderson Fields to pace Henderson to a 12-11 victory over Raleigh.

The Raleigh skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Washington hit several that he is not supposed to hit."

T. Washington singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off P. Lee in the 11th.

In 102 games this year Washington has posted a .309 average and put up these numbers: 4 home runs, 43 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
Tuesday, June 11th, 2019: 5-5 Game for Rocchigiani
It was a good day for the Henderson Komodos as they dumped the Minneapolis Dholes 10-8 at Minneapolis Fields. Despite the loss it was a remarkable day for Dholes Luigino Rocchigiani, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 5 barrage.

The Minneapolis center fielder told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I have mixed emotions about this game. Getting 5 hits is really something special, but losing the ballgame spoils it to a certain extent. It's sort of like the feeling you get when your mother-in-law drive over a cliff in your new sports car."

For his outstanding performance Rocchigiani will get his name in the record book.

Quizzed by the press corps about his personal hitting theories, he responded, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple...try not to over-think it. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."

L. Rocchigiani hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Rocchigiani is hitting .275 this year with 4 home runs and 27 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .338, 18 walks and scored 35 times.
Thursday, May 16th, 2019: Abbott Twirls Strike to Shutout Win
Before the game Jason Abbott liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Strike pitcher whitewashed the Henderson Komodos 11-0.

Abbott said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."

The Norfolk starter held Henderson scoreless, giving up 2 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Komodos manager said in his postgame interview.

"When that happens, you usually lose."

In the 2019 season Abbott has 3 wins and 4 losses and a 4.42 ERA.
