Fictional Baseball League News Article | | | Saturday, August 17th, 2019: High-5s for Peņa! Goes 5-6! What a day for Fernando Peņa of the Baltimore Cayugas! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped San Jose pitching apart at Cayugas Ballpark and sparked the Cayugas to a 13-4 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Peņa told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
F. Peņa singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off E. Carter in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off S. Sellers in the 9th.
This year Peņa is hitting .283 with 5 home runs and 35 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .331 clip and scored 38 runs. | |
